Oncology: Optical Biopsy Sheds Light on Cancer
The use of light as a medical diagnostic modality has been evolving since the pulse oximeter was first invented. The recent FDA approval of the optical coherence tomography imaging system (OCTIS) has taken the use of light as a diagnostic tool another step. OCTIS is designed to use multiple wavelengths of light to provide magnified cross-sectional images of a suspicious pathology.
