St. Joseph Health System and MD Buyline’s Purchased Services Experts Will Speak at Becker’s Hospital Review Sixth Annual Meeting

Breakout Session “Taking Control of Purchased Services” Addresses How Healthcare Providers Are Developing Lasting, Sustainable Methods for Managing Purchased Services.

beckers-conferenceDALLAS, TX — May 7, 2015  — Laurie Clayton, regional director of Contracts at St. Joseph Health, and Beverly Schierer, R.T. (R) (T), vice president of Research and Analysis at MD Buyline, will address hospital business and strategy leaders attending Becker’s Hospital Review Annual Meeting in the breakout session “Taking Control of Purchased Services.” The session takes place Friday, May 8, from 3:50 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Swissotel St. Gallen 3, Upper Level, Chicago, Illinois. This exclusive conference is designed to teach hospital leaders across the U.S. how to improve their hospital’s bottom lines in challenging yet opportunity-filled times.

Nearly 30 percent of a hospital’s operating budget is allocated to purchased services, and industry trends are predicting an increase of 13 percent during the next five years. With an increasing amount of stress on the budget, it is imperative that hospitals identify and execute purchased services management solutions that best suit their specific needs. Studies show that purchased services can be reduced by 10 percent to 30 percent in most categories, much more than the typical 5 percent to 15 percent reduction seen for most PPI. With that in mind, MD Buyline created the Buyline Purchased Services Program, designed not only to address specific purchasing and contract needs, but also to recreate how a system or facility approaches purchased services on the whole.

The collaboration between MD Buyline and St. Joseph Health demonstrates how MD Buyline is working with members, such as St. Joseph Health, to develop lasting, sustainable methods for managing their purchased services. Session attendees will learn a project-management approach to centralize and streamline the management of purchased-services initiatives; how the right data, education, and resources allow hospital leaders to realize savings on purchased-services initiatives and how St. Joseph Health is tackling its purchased-services initiative with MD Buyline.
