MD Buyline Announces Ebola Resource Center and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Pricing Guidelines

MD Buyline provides guidance and pricing information for common PPE materials and cleaning supplies identified by Emory Healthcare.

DALLAS, TX — November 4, 2014 — MD Buyline announced today its Ebola Resource Center is available for the healthcare community. The disruptive nature of the Ebola crisis has generated multiple changes in practice and supply standards, which has generated questions and concerns about proper procedures and materials. The resources MD Buyline makes available will build the confidence in healthcare providers who are purchasing PPE, especially in laboratory and nursing settings.

Ebola Preparedness Kit

One of the many available resources is the Ebola Preparedness Kit. For this extensive kit, MD Buyline has used the materials listed in Appendix 3 “PPE and Cleaning Supply List” of the “Emory Healthcare Ebola Preparedness Protocols” document to create a list of corresponding products. Included in this inventory is a detailed list of vendors, the products they offer and item numbers for each product. MD Buyline has also provided the minimum, maximum and average pricing information by unit of measure for each item listed from our extensive, evidence-based pricing database.

MD Buyline has collaborated with WCG Biosafety, a division of the WIRB-Copernicus Group, which provides consultation in issues related to biosafety and biosecurity. WCG Biosafety has provided commentary on the PPE product recommendations. Because MD Buyline is now part of the Arsenal Capital family of companies, our experts have access to a network of industry-leading resources, such as the WIRB-Copernicus Group, for biosafety, risk and compliance, and clinical research and healthcare expertise.

Complimentary Webinar

MD Buyline and WCG Biosafety are hosting a complimentary webinar on Thursday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. CT on Ebola Preparedness. During this webinar, the experts from MD Buyline and WCG Biosafety will discuss pricing of PPEs, best practices for negotiating with vendors and avoiding price gouging, clinical insight on ancillary equipment for the laboratory and nursing settings, and safety and training considerations related to PPEs and cleaning supplies.

During this challenging time, healthcare institutions must make informed decisions regarding purchasing PPE, equipment and other necessary supplies.  MD Buyline is working to provide the information you need to make informed decisions in this rapidly changing market.  Whether you are looking at PPE selection and needs or considering related capital purchases, MD Buyline will continue to work as your partner and advocate,” said Brandi Crow, RN, Clinical Analyst.

Equally as important as acquiring the appropriate materials is training on how to use PPE.

While having the right PPE is critical, it is also essential that healthcare workers are trained on the safe and correct use of PPE: donning and doffing equipment in the right order and caring for patients or performing work wearing protective equipment. For this reason, we’re pleased to be able to partner with MD Buyline to assist in providing the optimal protection for healthcare and hospital workers,” said Lindsay McNair, MD, MPH, MSB, Chief Medical Officer and President, Consulting Services of WIRB-Copernicus Group.
